Steven Clapper Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mercer-Adams Funeral Service on Mar. 2, 2022.
Steven Joseph Clapper, 32, of Oklahoma City, died at home on January 25, 2022. He was born October 28, 1989 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Steve C. and Beverly D. (Grimes) Clapper. He moved to Oklahoma in 2001 and lived in Oklahoma City and Bethany. Steven attended Putnam City Original High School.
So let me tell you about Steven. He was a handsome, charming, kind-hearted and highly intelligent person who loved his family and friends. He was very humble and easy going and believed in second chances. He made those around him feel comfortable and accepted. He loved animals, nature and enjoyed walking, reading, listening to podcasts, and playing games such as Oculus Boxing. This bright and gifted young man also suffered from depression, anxiety, and addiction.
This is something he had struggled with throughout his lifetime. There had been many dark days and way too many close calls. He experienced the loss of many young friends and acquaintances way before their time through his journey. He made a decision that he no longer wanted to be shackled by addiction and sought out treatment. Steven wanted to "Be Better" as he had written on his calendar as a daily reminder, and he was proud of the success he had achieved. Steven started setting goals that would impact his life in a positive way. He sought out a healthier lifestyle and started exercising and changing his diet. Days became brighter and filled with smiles and laughter. Unexpectedly, after such a long struggle and the promise of success, Steven abruptly lost his battle with addiction. Just days previous to his death, he spoke of the dangers of relapse and how so many had lost their lives. I mourn for him everything that he should have been able to enjoy in his lifetime that addiction, depression, and anxiety robbed him of. I pray he has found the peace, love, joy, and acceptance that he had always deserved. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
