Steven was born with a major mischievous streak. He delighted in setting up practical jokes that would catch his prey off guard. Once we were in the reptile house at the Columbus Zoo. While I was cautiously looking at the snakes from behind the glass, he came up behind me and hissed in my ear-which made me scream. I turned around and he had is infamous "GOT YA!" smirk on his face. Another time, he said he had a 45 record he wanted me to listen to. Since he took music very seriously, I couldn't imagine that he might be trying to pull one over on me. The song told the story of a group of grade school children-one of which didn't make it to the bathroom in time and had an accident in class. Throughout the song, a group of child's voice would the song's chorus and title, "Somebody S#@t!" At first I was shocked, and just stood there with a puzzled look on my face-which made his day. I always told him he should have been a stand-up comedian.

Steve and I spent a lot our high school years together after I moved to Oak Grove. I´m not sure which one of us was the biggest instigator getting us into many sketchy adventures. We reconnected a few years back after "life" happened. Rest easy my friend.

I met Steve at The Mecca back in the 70's. He always treated me like a local, not just another college student. I loved his wry sense of humor (or was that rye?) and I'm sure he's already sharing that with our other friends who have passed. My condolences to his family. I know you will miss him.

I remember Steve as far back as Jr. High. I spent a lot of time with him during high school and the years following. We lost touch over the late 80's and early 90's until in 1993 Steve was the man who took my wife to our car after we had our son. The last time I saw him in person must have been in 1997 when I saw him when visiting my dad in the hospital. We have reconnected on facebook the last few years and I will miss his likes and comments we shared. Rest in Peace My friend.

Steve brought me his BrandyWine tomato seeds this winter and I put them in my greenhouse. They were his favorite, I also sent home roma & yellow tomatoes & red peppers to plant. He was here just about a week ago to get a few more plants. Talked with him the day he was admitted. I will miss you my friend..... and will carry on with your BrandyWine tomatoes. Rest in Peace in that Big Band Playing in the heavens!! I will miss our political discussions and our garden plans :) Rest easy my Friend , Terry Archer

Steve and his family lived across the street from my grandparents on Schilling St. in Oak Grove. We played in an adjacent empty field next door with kids from the neighborhood. Gonna miss him.

To Steve's family: A great friend since Junior High School, a pretty good musician and a terrific storyteller. He'll be greatly missed by us all.
