Steve D. Cooper

Steve D. Cooper, 68, of Lake Charles passed away at 11:09 AM on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 in a local hospital.

Mr. Cooper was born in Hobbs, NM on September 9, 1956. He was raised in Crane, TX and moved to Garber, OK where he was a graduate of Garber High School.

On August 15, 1975, he married the love of his life in Breckenridge, Oklahoma. After their wedding, the couple moved back to Crane, Texas, where they spent several years before relocating to the Lake Charles area in 1995, where he would live for the remainder of his life.

In August 2023, Mr. Cooper retired after a successful career in the oil industry, where he worked as an operator and safety supervisor.

Mr. Cooper enjoyed watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys, barbequing, and most of all, spending quality time with his family. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He will be remembered for his kind heart and generous nature, always going out of his way to take care of others and give them what they needed.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Terri; children, Tinille Hantz (Bryan) of Houston, Tana Harris of Lake Charles, and Toby Cooper (Anne) of Sulphur; siblings, Carol Cooper of Moore, OK and Ronald "Ronnie" Cooper (Tinita) of Imperial, TX; mother-in-law, Pauline Powell of Lake Charles; and his grandchildren, Tylan Gass, Tanner Gass, Tori Pharis, and Tristan Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Juanita Cooper and a brother, Larry Cooper.

Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
