Aileen Govaz Thompson Cooper
Aileen Govaz Thompson Cooper, 95, of Lenox, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026. She was born on January 15, 1931, in Georgetown, Grand Cayman, British West Indies, to the late Anna Colavecchio Hall and William J. Hall.
Aileen was a gentle and kind woman with a cheeky, quick wit that delighted those around her. She loved dogs and birds, and in later years found great joy in her beloved cats. She was fascinated by the simple beauty of nature—especially the sound of wind moving through the trees. She enjoyed going to the movies and was always ready for her next outing, proudly earning the nickname “Go-Go Grammy.” Adventurous at heart, she immigrated to the United States at the age of 23 and taught herself to drive, embracing independence with courage and determination.
Aileen lived her life by example, teaching her family that you do not simply do what you want or even what is easy—you do whatever it takes. She believed deeply in perseverance and in pursuing what is meaningful, especially when it comes to loving and caring for family.
Family, togetherness, and creating a warm home were at the center of her world. She believed dreams carried lessons and purpose. She treasured time at the beach with her best friend Laura, sharing many years of laughter and adventures.
Aileen was active in her church community and consistently looked for ways to care for others. Even at age 89, while in a rehabilitation unit and using a wheelchair herself, she watched over fellow residents, alerting nurses if someone was in pain, at risk of falling, or needed assistance. Her compassion never wavered.
Above all, Aileen would want to be remembered for the love and devotion she gave to her family throughout her life. Her greatest wish was that her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren continue to love and care for one another.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Doug Winseck; daughter Donna Bodden Aldridge; son Jason Lee Cooper and wife Jody Cooper; daughters-in-law Irene Bodden and Sandra Cooper; and her many cherished grandchildren: Ashley Winseck and husband Josh Gilb; Michelle Winseck and husband Todd Miller; Alexandra Aldridge and husband Jonathan Ray; Jonathan Aldridge and wife Jessica Aldridge; Braedan Cooper; Mason Cooper; Chason Cooper; Ginger Bodden; Layla Ford and husband Damon Ford; Chelsea Cooper and husband Chris Johnson; Austin Cooper and wife Sarah; Kayla Crow and husband Barrett Crow; and Dillon Ford.
She is also lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren: Isla Miller, Bea Gilb, Carter Gilb, Annabel Gilb, Makenzie Aldridge, Alice Cooper, and McKinlee Cooper.
She was predeceased by her sons Charles Calvert Bodden, Rodney Lee Cooper, and Robert Somerville Bodden, Jr.; her husband Robert Lee Cooper; her former husband and friend Robert Somerville Bodden, Sr.; her sister Norma Thompson Jackson; her brothers Charles Thompson and Norman Thompson; and her mother, Judith Evelyn Thompson.
Aileen’s legacy of strength, compassion, humor, and unwavering love will live on in all who knew her.
