Bill Cooper Obituary

Bill Kendall Cooper, age 86, passed away on February 6, 2026. He was born on August 30, 1939, and lived a life marked by hard work, creativity, faith, and deep love for his family.

Bill was a man who never sat still for long and had a great sense of humor that kept those around him smiling. He loved being active and outdoors, especially enjoying golf, softball, baseball, and water skiing. Whether on the course, the field, or the water, he found joy in staying busy and sharing good times with friends and family.

A hardworking and dedicated provider, Bill worked at Rossville Mills and later became the co-owner of Daco Upholstery Sales with his longtime friend Pat Daniel. He was also a true artist at heart, with a passion for painting, drawing, and airbrushing T-shirts. In addition, he was a gifted handyman who could fix or build almost anything, and many were blessed by his skill, creativity, and willingness to help.

Bill was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church, where his life reflected his values of service, dedication, and quiet strength.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence G. Cooper and Annette Bolen Cooper; his brother, Larry G. Cooper; and his beloved wives, Letha Cox Cooper and Sandra Shaver Cooper.

He is survived by his children, Marty Cooper (Nancy), Dina Poindexter (Mark), Kimi Harris (Mike) and Kim Swallows; his sisters, Margaret Alice Dantzler (Bryan) and Annette Poindexter (Eddie); along with nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Bill Kendall Cooper will be remembered for his talent, his strong work ethic, his steady hands, his warm sense of humor, and his generous heart. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the things he built, the art he created, and the family he loved so deeply.

A celebration of life will be held at Christ United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m., with the service at 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ United Methodist Church at 8645 E. Brained Rd., Chattanooga, TN 37421. Please designate donations to Volunteers In Medicine.
