Nell Sims Liner

Nell Sims Liner, 101, of Chattanooga went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 8, 2026. She was born in Ringgold, Georgia on February 21, 1924, a daughter of the late A. L. "Lon" and Cora Dell McDaniel Sims. She has been a life-long resident of the Chattanoogan/North Georgia area and was a member of the Bayside Baptist Church. Mrs. Liner retired from Nations Hosiery Mills and loved cooking for her family and spending time with her friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Washington Liner who was killed in action on October 3, 1944 in Belgium. He was laid to rest at Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery in Plombieres, Belgium.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold Sims, Marvin Sims, Cecil Sims and her twin brother, Neal Sims; and sisters, Jesse Sims Kelly Lewis and Idaline Sims Grant Wilson.

Survivors include her loving son, Thomas Mitchell Liner; three grandchildren, Dr. Michael Allen (Nancy) Liner, Meredith Liner (Brant) Crowder and Thomas George (Tammy) Liner; seven great-grandchildren, Justin Liner, Dr. Melissa Liner, Mikayla Reid, Jessica Peavler, Bailey Farrar, Zachary Liner and Daniel Liner; five great-great grandchildren, Robert Peavler, Colt Peavler, Liberty Peavler, Luke Farrar and Dean Liner; nieces and nephews, Calvin Grant, Bernard Sims, Gary Sims, Dennis Sims and Judy Bean.

Graveside services honoring the life of Nell Sims Liner will be conducted 9:30 AM Friday at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Dr. Michael Liner officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, www.NAMB.net.

The family will receive friends 4-7 PM Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
