It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Floyd Dawes, a beloved brother and uncle, who left this world on May 28, 2025. Steven was known for his brash exterior and infectious sense of humor, always ready to share a joke and bring a smile to those around him. He was full of love and generosity, and his greatest joy came from spending time with his cherished Sweetie Pie, Barbara.
Known for his signature Hawaiian shirts and a beer in hand, Steven embodied a spirit of fun and happiness. An avid bowler and Dallas Cowboys fan, he lived life to the fullest, creating lasting memories with family and friends. His laughter and vibrant personality will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him.
Steven is preceded in death by his parents, Willis Floyd Dawes and Mary Hanks; his brothers, Bruce Dawes and Michael Dawes; and his devoted wife, Barbara Sheffield. He is survived by his sister, Cheryl Varnadore, and her husband, Bill; his brother, Richard Dawes, and his wife, Diana; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will carry him in their hearts and memories.
Family and friends are invited to a service and reception on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM at French, located at 10500 Lomas Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112. Interment at Sunset Memorial Park will follow.
Steven's legacy of love and laughter, along with his unforgettable Hawaiian shirts, will continue to shine in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
