Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary (A.R.N. Cremation) - ZionsvilleSteven Allen DeArmond was a man of deep character, steady strength, and unwavering devotion to the people he loved. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Steven carried with him the values of hard work, loyalty, and pride in where he came from—values that shaped every chapter of his life. He passed away at the age of 62, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to live on through his family and all who knew him.
Steven was a dedicated professional who made his mark in the auto industry as both a salesman and a general manager. He led by example, earning respect through integrity, determination, and a tireless work ethic. Later, as a wine steward at Kroger, Steven found joy in connecting with people—customers and coworkers alike—always ready with a recommendation, a conversation, or a friendly smile.
His life experiences were rich and varied. Steven attended the University of Hawaii, an opportunity that broadened his perspective and reflected his curiosity about the world. He also proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where his sense of duty, discipline, and honor shone through.
Above all else, Steven was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared a loving life with his wife, Jacqueline DeArmond, and was a proud and supportive father to Andrew (Kirstie Keller) DeArmond, Lindsey DeArmond, Braylynn DeArmond, and Deavyn DeArmond. One of his greatest joys was his grandson, Jack DeArmond, whom he adored beyond words. Steven is also survived by his parents, Richard and Patricia DeArmond; his siblings, Debra (Mike) Benjamin, Deanna (John) Cooper, Becky DeArmond, Rick (Mary) DeArmond, and Beth (Todd) Watson; along with many nieces and nephews who will forever carry his love with them.
Steven had a passion for Indiana University sports, especially IU football and basketball. Cheering on the Hoosiers wasn’t just a hobby—it was part of who he was. Game days brought excitement, tradition, and a sense of connection that he loved sharing with family and friends. Those moments of celebration, debate, and loyalty reflected the same enthusiasm and commitment he brought to every part of his life.
Steven’s presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit—his love, his laughter, his dedication—will remain alive in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 20th at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 14598 Oak Ridge Road at 11 AM. Friends are welcome to visit from 10 AM until the time of the service.
