Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home on Nov. 4, 2025.
Steven Michael Douglas Porter, born on April 12, 1987, in Xenia, Ohio, was a beloved husband, son, grandson, brother, soon-to-be father, and friend whose vibrant spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Steven passed away on November 1, 2025, in
Paris, Kentucky.
After a heartwarming life rich in love and laughter, Steven graduated from Bourbon County High School, which served as the foundation for his exceptional career. His hands sculpted the earth and channeled water as a skilled heavy equipment operator specialized in excavating with Gingerich Tiling Co. Steven was not only a talented journeyman plumber, but also an member of the Bluegrass Cowboy Church, where he practiced his unwavering Christian faith.
With a heart as expansive as the open road, Steven's life was marked by his passion for adventure. He enjoyed the thrill of riding SXS and the meticulous craftsmanship involved in building and controlling R/C cars. There was an art to the demolition car he was beginning to build, much like the meticulous detail he invested in his work. Steven was invigorated by the roar of engines at truck pulls, and his enthusiasm for diesel trucks was unrivaled, captured by his favorite rallying cry to "roll coal."
Steven's charismatic nature made him the epitome of friendliness, and his prowess in all things mechanical showcased his incredible handiness. His presence was a comfort and joy to his family, including his wife Tabitha Harmon Porter; his parents Randy Ray (Robin Leigh) Porter and Sherie Marie Pike (Bill) Hatton; his two adoring sisters, Miranda (Michael) Smith and Nicole Wagner; and mother of his expected child, Rocki Butcher. Steven was a cherished descendant of grandparents Gerald (Louise Lumpkins) Porter and Douglas and Amy Pike, and was the pride of his aunts Rebecca (John) Porter-Honeycutt, Deanna (Mark) Hendricks, and Missy Pike. His beloved dog, Scooby, his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins-including Cody Dixon and Levi Curtis-will remember him with affection for his exuberant spirit and generous heart.
Steven now joins his grandmother Clara Mae Withrow Porter in eternal peace, along with his cherished great-grandparents Mary and Oscar Withrow, and Ackley and Opal Porter, who preceded him in death.
To have known Steven was to know the true meaning of friendship and camaraderie. His legacy will live on through the stories shared by his loved ones, the sound of a diesel engine in the distance, and in the playful antics of his devoted canine companion. Steven's life was a testament to the beauty of a soul well-lived, touching the hearts of all who had the honor to walk alongside him in his memorable journey through life.
