Steven Ebersole Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dooley Colonial Home - Westfield on Nov. 27, 2022.
Steven William Ebersole, 59, a long-time resident of Cranford, NJ, entered eternal life on November 19, 2022. He will be remembered as a loving family man, a loyal friend, a gifted athlete and a successful businessman. He was a kind soul with a great smile and sharp wit always ready to share a joke and a good story.
He was born on May 15, 1963, in Hershey, Pennsylvania, the second son to Gerald and Ruth Ann (nee Longenecker) Ebersole. He was raised in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, along with his brothers Jim and Mike. They spent many summers visiting national parks and lakes, which fostered Steve's love for the outdoors, water skiing, and fishing.
Steve attended Cedar Crest Hall High School (CCHS), and was a well-accomplished scholar-athlete. Steve received multiple accolades for his athletic achievements including induction into the Cedar Crest Hall of Fame for wrestling. Steve placed fifth in states and holds multiple CCHS wrestling records including most wins, falls, takedowns and tournament wins. He won the prestigious Pop Kelchner student-athlete of the year award as a three-sport letter winner at CCHS in soccer, wrestling, and track. Steve earned All Lebanon County (PA) First Team soccer striker/forward.
After graduating from high school, Steve attended Penn State University and graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Management. After college, Steve relocated to New Jersey. Steve had a long and successful career at Glaxo Smith-Kline running their Clifton, NJ Plant where he was a well-respected leader.
In 1997, Steve met his wife Carol at the Jersey Shore, and it was an instant attraction. They had a whirlwind romance, got engaged six months later and married in 1998. They settled in Cranford, NJ, and together built a beautiful home. On December 26, 2004, Steve and Carol were blessed with their miracle son, Jason Steven, and added to the family two years later with their first poodle, Raider, named after Steve's beloved Oakland Raiders. Steve was a very proud, hands-on Dad, spending a lot of time with Jason playing catch, creek stomping, and fishing as soon as Jason was able to walk. Steve was so proud of Jason for becoming such a passionate and accomplished fisherman.
Steve looked forward to spending time with his wife, son, and friends at their lake house in Hopatcong, NJ, where he enjoyed boating, fishing, water sports, and Fourth of July festivities. He also enjoyed many beach vacations with the family.
Steve's interests were varied. He was a history buff and was well-read, and he spent many hours doing crossword and sudoku puzzles. He enjoyed watching murder mysteries and crime shows with his wife and driving his Mustang convertible with the sun on his face while blasting loud music.
Steve loved watching both football, especially the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Oakland Raiders, and NY Yankees baseball with Carol. Steve enjoyed keeping fit by weight lifting, biking, golfing and taking long walks with Carol and their two poodles Chance and Bandit. Steve had a soft spot for his fur babies and it was funny to see a strong, muscle-bound man turn to mush when greeting his puppies at the door.
He is predeceased by his father, Gerald Ebersole, and his father-in-law, Paul Migliozzi.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of almost 24 years, Carol Ebersole (nee Migliozzi); beloved son, Jason Steven Ebersole; mother, Ruth Ann Ebersole (nee Longenecker); brothers, Michael (wife-Gabriella) and Jim (wife-Kari) Ebersole; nephews, Christopher (wife-Laura) and Stephen Ebersole; nieces, Sara and Jami Ebersole; uncle, Bill Longenecker; cousins, David, and Alexa Longenecker; mother-in-law, Angelina Migliozzi; brothers-in-law, Paul and Jimmy Migliozzi.
Steve will live on in the hearts of his family and many friends who will all miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Dooley Colonial Funeral Home, 556 Westfield Avenue, Westfield NJ 07090, from 4 PM to 8 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 10 AM at Saint Helen Roman Catholic Church, 1600 Rahway Avenue, Westfield, NJ 07090.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Steve´s passing. I worked with him at GSK for about a decade. Many of my fondest memories of GSK events include Steve.
My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

So sorry to hear about Steve´s passing . I remember teaching him the Peterson in wrestling which he used often in his matches. He also visited with my brother when I went to Penn state. I also miss his dad Gerald who was a role model to me and who I also think about often. I hope time helps the family heal from this great loss.
