Janet Ebersole Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory on Nov. 28, 2025.
Janet R. Ebersole, age 87, lifelong resident of the Shelby-Mansfield area, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Sylvania, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family.
Janet was born on February 1, 1938, in Shelby to the late Earl and Mildred (Smith) Copeland. She graduated from Shelby High School in 1956. She worked for The Center located in Mansfield as an administrative assistant retiring in 1996. She was a woman of faith and an active member in the Hope Lutheran Church of Mansfield, where she served on the church counsel for many years - even holding the position of treasurer. Janet had a heart made of gold and cared for others deeply. Her concern for others was evident through her volunteer service at MedCentral/Ohio Health Hospice, where she spent time visiting patients and calling their loved ones.
Janet enjoyed crafting, sewing, knitting, and reading as some of her favorite hobbies. She was passionate about the outdoors and enjoyed going camping with her family. She and her husband, Lionel, made a concerted effort to take all of their grandchildren camping throughout the summer months sharing many fond memories over the years. Janet was a twin and known as the other half of the "Copeland Twins." She and her sister, Janice, loved traveling together. It did not matter the destination, just that they were doing it together. During the winter months, Janet and Lionel spent their days in Ocala, Florida, avoiding the snow and soaking in the sunshine. Her warm, caring, and thoughtful personality will forever be missed by all that were fortunate to have known her.
She is survived by her three children, Debra Graham of Chesapeake, Virginia, David (Barbara) Jarrell of Severna Park, Maryland, and Rebecca (Gary) Brittenham of Toledo, Ohio; six step-children, David (Debbie) Ebersole, Michael Ebersole, Emily (David) Knipp, Douglas (Pam) Ebersole, Daniel (Michelle) Ebersole, Laurie (Scott) Storch; six grandchildren, Elizabeth VanMeter, Stephanie Bolles, Tim Jarrell, Andrew Jarrell, Brad Graham, and Bethany Williamson, as well as numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, Lionel Ebersole, whom she wed on April 12, 1980; her twin sister, Janice May; her stepson, Rodney Ebersole; and her son-in-law, Randy Graham.
Friends and Family may visit at The Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will immediately follow with Pastor Faith Proietti officiating. Interment will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
