Steven Ferguson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bonney Watson Funeral Home - SeaTac on Jan. 16, 2026.
Steven James Ferguson, Sr. was born in San Francisco, California on April 23, 1960.

He was preceded in death by his father, Percy James Ferguson; his sister Nona; grandparents Lela Wilson and Charles Wilson; cousins Frankie, Bruce, Michael, Antron Lewis; niece Delanzia; aunts Sarah Francis, Thelma and Shirley.

Steven is survived by his two sons, Derrick Ferguson and Little Steve Jr., and his daughter Shamar Ferguson; four grandchildren, Lamel, Little Steve III, LaVontrese, and Kali; his mother Charlene Wilson Ferguson; his sisters Adrian Ferguson Ford (Kent), Stephanie Ferguson (Seattle) and Lila Kim Ferguson (Auburn); his brothers Percy Sean Ferguson (TX), Sidney Mark Ferguson (Kent), and Keith Raylon Ferguson (Federal Way).

Steven's family moved to Seattle early in his life, with him attending many different schools including Dimmitt Middle School, Lakeshore, Rainier Beach High School and Franklin High School. He was involved in the Boy Scouts and worked on a paper route in Renton. He held multiple jobs during his life, including working at a peanut processing company in Moses Lake, at a casino in Fife/Tacoma, as well as landscaping. Steven had great pride in going back to school to get his GED. He sent pictures to everyone to show them his accomplishment.

Steven loved music of all types, playing the drums with his brother, and was a great dancer. He was also a collector of many things like hats, lamps, jerseys and shirts, and more. Enjoying nature, he would wake up early to enjoy his days hiking, working on various projects and other outdoor activities.

He was a kind and giving person who never met a stranger, always making friends wherever he went. He would pick you up and make you feel welcome in his presence. If you had somewhere to be, he would make sure you had a way to get there.

Steven was dedicated to his family. He would always make sure his mom was taken care of, stopping by to help with things around the house, and always ending with "I love you mom". He loved his children deeply, always doing the best to care for them. The extended family was very extensive, including the Gines, Lewis, McGee, Tyson, and Elecy families. His memory will be cherished by all who shared his love.
