As the daughter of a United States Army serviceman, Liz experienced a childhood shaped by travel and diversity, living in Tennessee, Hawaii, Oklahoma, Colorado, Texas, and Kentucky. She graduated from Fort Campbell High School in 1971 and later pursued a career in healthcare, earning certification as an X-ray technician in Lexington, Kentucky. She began her career at Central Baptist Hospital in 1973, serving there until 1981. On July 9, 1981, she married Delmas Ferguson and made her home in Morehead, where she continued her work at Cave Run Clinic until retiring in 2016. Her decades of service reflected her relentless dedication and compassionate spirit.
Liz lived a life rich in creativity and quiet accomplishment. She was an enthusiastic reader, especially enjoying novels by Patricia Cornwell, Anne Rice, James Patterson, John Grisham, and Max Lucado. She loved watching movies and decorating shows on HGTV and YouTube and had a remarkable gift for making a house feel like home. Holiday decorating brought her particular joy, especially decorating her home for Christmas. Her flower gardens were a testament to her patience and care. An accomplished seamstress, she crafted everything from doll clothes to draperies, and her skill with varied woodworking projects-including a three-story dollhouse-revealed her hands-on expertise. She anticipated trips home to Tennessee to see family and an occasional cruise (without her husband!). She loved dolls, jewelry, purses, and chocolates. Her favorite season was fall, and she loved the rain.
Those who knew Liz will remember her as both serious and witty; she had a good sense of humor. A perfectionist, she held herself to high standards yet remained gracious. Family was the center of her world. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, caring sister, and proud aunt who nurtured lifelong bonds-especially the cherished relationships she maintained with her sisters.
Liz leaves behind a legacy of devotion, craftsmanship, compassion, and enduring love. Her life's imprint will be felt for generations to come.
