Steven D. Fillion, 63, of Wareham, passed away suddenly on March 16, 2023. It was 50 degrees that day, a random fact he would want you to know. He was born August 7, 1959 in Charlestown, Massachusetts to his mother Paula and late father David. Steve and his family were raised in Charlestown and moved to Sharon where he graduated from Sharon High School in 1977. He returned to Charlestown for college and graduated Northeastern University in 1982. Steve worked with his father at Universal Gems prior to opening the jewelry store, Gold World, in 1986. He owned and operated Gold World for 37 years. He was more than just a jeweler to his customers. He remembered your name, your story and treated you like family. He would want to thank everyone for their patronage and loyalty over the years.
Steve married the love of his life, Anne Marie in 1985 and his passion in life was spending time with her and his three children. He was the epitome of a family man and a devoted proud father. Steve enjoyed every and all family gatherings. He loved to go camping with family and friends and had yearly trips planned to Plymouth and Maine. While traveling, Steve enjoyed fishing, a warm campfire, a good IPA, playing cards, and falling asleep before the movie even started. Steve was a member of the Monument Beach Sports Club where he frequented and enjoyed bringing guests to share his passion. A few of Steve's favorite things were, playing hockey every week with a great group of friends at the Gallo Ice Rink, talking about history and connecting with people over just about anything. Steve could relate to anyone. He always knew a random fact that could spark a conversation.
Steve grew up in Boston and very much enjoyed talking about his childhood there and sharing in the memories of being a townie. Steve would always use Bunker Hill as a landmark when describing directions and how to get to places even if it wasn't nearby.
Steve was predeceased by his father, David Fillion. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife, Anne Marie, his children, Kelley, Marielle and Garrett. Steve is also survived by his mother, Paula Fillion, and his 3 siblings, Michael Fillion and his wife, Kristen, Elaine Fillion-Crouse, Joe Fillion and his wife Lourdes, his brother and sister in-laws, John and Joanne Bucci, Michael and Linda Bucci, and Brian Bucci. Steve is also survived by many dear cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, a great niece and a multitude of wonderful dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Stone Path Malt Brewery, 11 Kendrick Rd., Wareham on Friday, March 24, 2023 between 1:00 - 5:00 pm. A celebration of life will be held later that will be a private event for family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers and in Steve's memory, please consider supporting local small businesses in whichever community you live in preferably by paying in cash. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at: www.chapmanfuneral.com. We would love to hear your favorite memories of Steve.

I knew Steve from going to his store back in the 80s. I was always putting things on layaway. He was always so friendly and kind. I moved to Florida for many years, moved back and went into the store not that long ago. Still remembered my face and name and did a perfect job as usual. I am so sorry for you're loss. He was a wonderful man.

I played hockey with Steve for a few years and always enjoyed talking with him in the locker room. He was truly a great guy! I was stunned to hear of his passing. It's always the way in life you wish you had a little more time to spend with the good ones. My condolences go out to his family & friends. I will keep in my heart the conversions we had and his crazy hockey moves he made with the puck during games!

I have delivered the mail to Gold World for the past year and Steve always had a smile and a story for me upon my arrival. We always joked that I always brought him things and he never had anything for me so the days that he did have mail brought a big laugh between us. I am shocked by his passing. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. Rest easy Steve, you will be very much missed.

We are so sorry for your loss of your Husband and Father. Steve was a Wonderful man. Me and my husband have known Steve for 28 years going into Gold World to buy my Wonderful clock I bought 14 years ago that breaks all up as it plays elvis and other tunes. And my husband Chuck always talking hockey and the Bruins I used to have to drag him out of the store they never wanted to stop. Every year he was so excited about getting our Christmas card and candy we would bring him. He said he kept every card. Steve was a gentle soft spoken kind generous man so helpful. We will never forget him. He was one in a million. Steve we hope you are up in heaven scoring goals. We love you
