Jean Marie Worster (Beckwith), 88

EAST BRIDGEWATER – Jean Marie Worster, 88, passed away on Monday, Feb. 16, after a lengthy illness.

She was the daughter of the late Albert Vitello and Josephine Beckwith and was born in Boston on Oct. 13, 1937. Jean was raised in Sharon, Mass., and graduated from Sharon High School in 1955. She married her husband, Kenneth Worster of Norwood, Mass., in August 1960 and they settled in Yarmouth shortly after.

During the 1980s, she loved the Boston Celtics' Big Three of Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish and shared memories of the trio for many years to follow. She also was a passionate Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots fan.

She served Cape Cod Hospital for 20-plus years, beginning as the switchboard operator in 1987. In the 1990s she moved to the medical records department, where she remained until retiring in Fall 2007. Prior to the hospital, she worked for Windsor Nursing Home, Brown's Answering Service and New England Telephone.

Jean greatly enjoyed socializing and traveling, and especially recalled trips to Ireland and Sicily. She and her husband liked bingo and dancing and were often seen at the former Mari-Jean's Restaurant in Hyannis. She was also a youth softball coach in Yarmouth. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Chris Gallant of Yarmouth Port and Linda Pearsall of Centerville; son, Kenneth Jr. of Sandwich; and grandchildren Drew and Ryan Gallant, Sydney Jackson, and Colby and Olivia Pearsall. She was predeceased by her husband in 1990 and her daughter, Amy Jackson of Sandwich, in 2014, in addition to siblings Richard Beckwith and Sandra Kannally.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Sachem Center for Health & Rehabilitation for their care, compassion and support these last few years.
