Steven William Fruecht, 67, of Fishers, Indiana, passed away June 30, 2025. Steve was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 12, 1957 to parents, Charles and Agnes (Hanzel) Fruecht. He graduated from Chartiers Valley High School in Pennsylvania and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana in 1979.
After graduating Steve worked at Indiana Bell and continued to work at various jobs in information technology during his career, retiring in 2021. He spent many volunteer hours serving as President of the Lawrence School Board. He was an active member of his church Holy Spirit Parish at Geist and his most treasured position was serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at Mass. He also participated in the Cursillo Movement and Thursday morning Bible Study along with multiple volunteer activities throughout the year.
Steve was proud of his Pittsburgh roots and followed all their teams. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, usually starting with sports but would also use these conversations to share his faith. Steve had a passion for music and was a DJ for his college radio station. He enjoyed music from the 60s and 70s but then found contemporary Christian music which he listened to daily and was touched by the meaning and spiritual growth that it offered him.
Steve had two kidney transplants, the first in 2008 followed by another in 2021. His first transplant was from a living donor, his beautiful friend, Janell Mountcastle. Steve accepted his many health issues and again made connections with the various people who cared for him throughout the years.
Steve was an amazing man with great faith. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He touched many lives, and his greatest joy came from his family and many friends which are too numerous to be listed.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Agnes (Hanzel) Fruecht; his beloved first wife, Theresa (Braden) Fruecht; his siblings, Richard Burgess, Susan (Fruecht) Evans, Kevin Fruecht; and his brother-in-law, Charles Evans.
He is survived by his loving wife Linda (Bounelis) Fruecht; his sister and brother-in-law Mary (Fruecht) and Daniel Mizik; his sister-in-law Venus (Little) Fruecht; his children and their spouses Lisa and Chuck Fox, David and Heather (Trinkle), Sarah and Damir Mehic; and his stepchildren Daniel, Justin, and Lucy Nanista. He loved being a grandpa to Mina and Anja Mehic, Steve Fox, Penny Fruecht and an uncle to Nicole Evans and Samantha (Isbell) Evans.
On July 3, 2025, visitation will be at Holy Spirit Parish at Geist from 9 to 11am followed by his Funeral Mass at 11am. Steve will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana.
