Steven Mark Goldmacher, 80, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 22, 2025, at CentraState Medical Center.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Steve grew up playing stickball and baseball in the neighborhood streets and sparring good-naturedly with his older sister. A proud graduate of Tilden High School, Class of 1961, he spent summers working as a waiter in the Catskills before beginning his military service with the National Guard. He was deployed during the New York City blackout of 1965 and the postal strike of 1970.

Steve began his career in Manhattan with RCA at the iconic 30 Rockefeller Plaza, where he embraced the city's energy - taking his soon-to-be wife to hockey games, boxing matches, and all that New York had to offer. After moving to New Jersey to raise a family, Steve spent more than 25 years as a Public Relations executive with Philips Lighting in Somerset. His work took him across the country and around the world, and he delighted in sharing those stories with family and friends. Among his career highlights were representing Philips at multiple Olympic Games and World Cups, and appearing in Time magazine while helping install the final lightbulbs in the Times Square Ball for the Millennium celebration. Many of his colleagues became lifelong friends, with whom he continued to share regular, much-anticipated lunches.

Affectionately known as "Pop Pop," Steve was most proud of his children and six grandchildren. He was their greatest supporter - cheering from the sidelines, rinkside, or matside - and will be remembered for donning school hats, hoodies, and t-shirts so he could equally represent each grandchild with pride.

Steve was a devoted Mets fan, a daily solver of the New York Times crossword puzzle, and an avid reader. He had an uncanny ability to recommend the best rib joint in any city. Summers were often spent at the Marlboro Swim Club or fluke fishing off the Jersey Shore. He will be fondly remembered as our family's pinball wizard, pool shark, and for his enjoyment of his trips to Atlantic City.

Steve was predeceased by his parents, Max Goldmacher and Sylvia Dolinka. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; his daughter, Veronica Garzone (Matthew); his son, Brian Goldmacher (Kristin); his sister, Joan Grossman; and his cherished grandchildren, Andrew, Sawyer, Raedyn, Brendan, Griffin, and Kira.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 27, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North. For condolences and directions, please visit www.freemanfuneralhomes.com.
