Steven Michael Grace of Providence, age 60, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, love and music on Friday November 1, 2024 after an illness. Steven was born in the Esmond section of Smithfield, RI the youngest son of Lucy R. (Fiore) & Lawrence A. Grace III. He attended school in Smithfield, RI; Lauderdale Lakes, FL; and graduated "Class of 1982" from LaSalle Academy. He lived in North Providence and Providence.
He is survived by his siblings Linda E. (Dennis) Costellese; Kathleen A. (Stephen) Ricard; Patricia J. (Robert) Normandin; David J. Grace; and Patrick Decker (like a brother). He was a GREAT Uncle many times over as "Cool Uncle Steve" to a score (20) of Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews. He had close cousins across the globe. He was predeceased by his parents, and his brother Lawrence A Grace IV.
Steven was a Sales Regional Manager for inMusic (Numark, Alesis, Ion, Akai) successfully outfitting all levels of need from professional down to personal. His desire to enable musicians was his job, his hobby, his life. He cut his teeth as Audio Professional for Rick's Music World (Swansea, MA) from 1997, Sales and Specialist at Caruso Music (New London, CT) 1996 and Jaguar equipment.
Steve loved music, and was very involved in the local music scene. When he wasn’t performing as a musician, he was supporting other local artists by lending his expertise as a sound engineer, walk on performer, promoter, and enthusiastic fan. His friends often referred to him as a “Technical Jedi”. He was always very passionate about helping artists be seen and heard. Musically he played as The Eternal Flame, The Lone Wolf, and as Steven Grace sitting in with many local bands when they needed a guitar professional, supplying the amps and gear, or recording shows. He was completely self taught and collaborated with hundreds of local musicians. He will be missed by many.
