David A. Fecteau passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, at the home he built on Keach Pond in Glocester, Rhode Island, a place he, his wife Jean Fecteau, and their family lovingly made their home. They had been married for 44 years.
Born in
Cranston, Rhode Island, David was the son of the late Thomas C. Fecteau and Catherine A. (Short) Fecteau. One of five children, David was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas B. and James Fecteau, who welcomed him home. He is survived by his sisters, Christine Miller and Jane Ryan, both of Rhode Island, and their spouses, Steve Miller and Robert Ryan.
David was a devoted father to his three children and their spouses: Jennifer Donatelli and Jim DeSilva, David and Kristin Fecteau, and Thomas and Amanda Fecteau, all of whom reside near the pond in Glocester. He was most proudly known as "Grampie" to his five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who were the joy of his life. He will also be deeply missed by his brother-in-law and spouse, Charles McCarthy and Arlene Suchadolski of Pawtucket, and his sister-in-law and spouse, Patricia McCarthy and David Shuman of Seekonk.
David was a proud graduate of La Salle Academy, where he was a member of the hockey team that won the 1965 Rhode Island State Championship.
David lived a life of service-first and foremost to his family, and also to the communities he served. He was a long-serving and decorated member of the Cranston Fire Department, retiring as Deputy Chief in 2002 after 30 years. He also took great pride in building homes throughout Rhode Island through his company, Fecteau Associates. In Glocester, David continued his commitment to service in multiple roles, including serving as a Building Inspector for Northern Rhode Island Home Repair, helping low-income families and seniors maintain safe homes, the town's first Hazardous Material Coordinator, and as a board member overseeing the construction of the Glocester Senior Center.
David loved nothing more than spending time with his family. Many days were spent enjoying the pond, working on his many projects, or traveling on family trips to the ranch. His happiest place was wherever his family was together.
