Steven Gale Haflich, known affectionately to friends and family as Steve, passed away on June 14, 2025, in Temecula, California at home. Born on September 8, 1953, in Flagler, Colorado, Steve was a beacon of joy and kindness to all who knew him. His departure leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to family.
Steve grew up in Garden City, Kansas, where he attended Garden City High School. It was there that he cultivated a foundation of hard work and integrity that would define his life. After graduation, he embarked on a career that spanned 50 years in the concrete industry. As Plant Manager for Superior Ready Mix at several locations during his career, his leadership and expertise were felt across the communities of Escondido, Murrieta, and Corona.
A devoted family man, Steve's greatest joy was in the simple acts of love he showered upon his loved ones. His wife of 49 years, MaryAnn (Ludwig) Haflich, was the center of his world. Their love story began in Kansas, with a chance encounter at her fathers grocery store that blossomed into a lifetime of shared memories. Together, they raised three childrenKathryn Munoa (Brad), Carolyn Lane (Adam), and Steven Haflich(Amber)who, along with their 12 grandchildren, Kaylin, Ethan, Aiden, Kailee, Elise, Alyssa, Cadence, Angeline, Emmeline, Hayley, A.J., and Mason, were the recipients of his boundless affection and creative spirit. From the whimsy of his May Day baskets to his cherished Friday 'Treat Nights,' Steve had a unique way of making everyday moments special.
Steve's talents were many, earning him the title of a true 'Jack of all trades.' His ingenuity and skill were evident in everything he touched, from the home he helped build with his own hands along with his son-in-law Brad, to the countless items he invented, built, and fixed over the years. His knack for solving problems was matched only by his humility and willingness to help others.
An avid baseball fan, Steve's support for the Padres was as enthusiastic as his commitment to his family. His genuine nature, coupled with his sharp wit and humor, made him a beloved figure in his church and community.
Steve's selflessness and inspirational presence will be dearly missed. His brother Greg, along with Greg's wife Janel, sister-in-laws Barbara and Jane, Barbaras husband, Roy, and numerous nieces and nephewsCarrie, Angela, Jeff, Bradley, Sammy, Matt, Bridget, Danny, Neil, and Jillwill hold his memory close, as will all who had the pleasure of knowing him. While he was preceded in death by his granddaughter Elise and his brother Terry, the love and lessons he imparted will forever bring comfort and joy to his family.
Steve's life was a testament to the values of love, laughter, and selflessness. His ability to see the humor in life, his unending love for his family, and his willingness to lend a hand where needed, defined the man he was. As we say goodbye to Steven Gale Haflich, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will continue to inspire for generations to come.
