Steven Charles Harzman

Steve Harzman, 66 year old Bethany resident passed away, Friday, February 20, 2026 in Oklahoma City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, February 26, 2026 at the Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church. A Rosary will held at 6:00 pm Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at the Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm at the McNeil Funeral Service in Mustang, Oklahoma.
Steven Charles Harzman was born on June 8, 1959, in Alva, Oklahoma, to Charles Nicholas and Anita Karan (Ewbank) Harzman. He spent his early childhood in Ringwood before his father joined the United States Air Force, a decision that led the family to live in several cities across the country. Steve attended school in Nevada before moving to Woodbridge, Virginia, and later to O'Fallon, Illinois, where he graduated in 1977.
After high school, Steve pursued higher education, earning his Bachelor of Science in Business Management in January 1993 and his Master of Science in Management in May 1995.
On March 6, 1985, Steve was united in marriage to Kristie Dawn Clark in Alva, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Alva before relocating to Bethany in August 1986, where they built a life centered on family, service, and community.
Steve began his law enforcement career as a Police Officer in Alva in the summer of 1985. In August 1986, he joined the Bethany Police Department. Over the course of his distinguished career, he earned several promotions, becoming Sergeant in October 1988 and Captain in August 1995. He concluded his law enforcement service in 2008. Following his time in uniform, Steve continued serving the City of Bethany as Assistant City Manager and later as Human Resources Director, retiring in 2021. He was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Outside of his professional life, Steve found joy in woodworking, gardening, and do-it-yourself projects. He completed Master Gardener classes in 1998 and took pride in nurturing both plants and people. He also enjoyed trains, fishing, hiking, and collecting seashells and rocks. Above all, Steve cherished time with his children and grandchildren. In retirement, he especially loved traveling in their RV with his devoted wife, Kristie, creating memories on the open road together.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Anita Harzman.
In lieu of flowers, Steve's family is asking for donations to either the Integris Hospice House or the Bethany Fraternal Order of Police with the funeral home accepting the donations.
