Steven Michael Heath
1958-2024
North Grosvenordale – Steven Michael Heath, age 65, beloved husband of Rose I. (Jodoin) Heath, died Monday, March 4, 2024, at Day Kimball Hospital after a brief illness.
Steve was born in Putnam, on March 21, 1958, son of the late Allard J. "Red" Heath Sr. (1998), the late Alma "Elsie" (Lannaville) Bennett (1997) and the late Harvey E. Bennett (2020). Steve was educated in the Putnam School System.
Steve and Rose were united in marriage on July 19, 1997. By trade, Steve was a truck driver. It was his passion, enjoying 23 years over the road, coast to coast and 10 years locally. He drove 18-wheelers, triaxle, box van and dump trailers. Over the years, Rose joined him in "the big" truck, enjoying and visiting every State in the continental United States. He was proud of his safety record! Having never had an accident and safely recorded over 3 million miles. Steve's last employment was with M & E Transportation of Pomfret. He also spent many years at Trainor Trucking and M & M Trucking, both in Putnam. In years past, Steve was a sports/racing correspondent for WINY radio. Steve and Rose enjoyed going on Carnival cruises, backyard barbecues, sitting by the fire pit, spending time and talking with family and friends. Steve had two favorite words in life, one is not fit for publication and the other was huge, often mispronounced as YUGE!
Steve was an avid sports fan. He and Rose loved all things NASCAR. He has an impressive collection of NASCAR memorabilia, and has traveled to many of the Cup Car tracks, including the Pocono's, Dover, Daytona, Kentucky, Talladega, Las Vegas, Chicagoland, Atlanta, Kansas, Nashville, Homestead Miami and New Smyrna. In addition, they could regularly be seen at the local tracks, Thompson International Speedway, Stafford Motor Speedway, Waterford Speed Bowl and Seekonk Speedway. Steve was a "fair weather" fan of the New England Sports teams – he liked them when they were winning and disliked them when they were not. He was a long-time fan of the San Francisco 49ers. Steve was also a W.P.T.P Youth Football League Coach many years ago, and coached his team to the "Superbowl".
In addition to his wife of 26 years, Rose I. (Jodoin) Heath, Steve is survived by his children, Stephanie Branam of Virgina, Matthew Heath of North Grosvenordale, Jason Heath of North Grosvenordale; Earlene Ames of Moosup; his siblings, Joyce Cote and her companion, Hugh McLaughlin III of Putnam, Jamie Heath and his wife Debra of Putnam, Heidi Moore and her husband Wayne of Ashford and Scott Bennett and his wife Misty of Putnam. Steve was also the cherished "Pep" to his grandchildren, Mikaela Andreas, Khloe Demers, Arthur "Wally" Hopkins, Killian Branam, Alliea and Justin Faulk. In addition to his parents, Steve was predeceased by his brothers, Eugene "Huey" Heath (1974), Allard J. "Tyke" Heath Jr. (2014), Curt D. Heath (2018), his sister, Brenda J. Heath (2021), his father and mother-in- law, Earl (1992) and Jeannette Jodoin (2008), his brother-in-law Earl "Butch" Jodoin Jr. (2012), and by his son-in-law, Daniel Branam (2020).

I knew Steve and his entire family. He was a great man and we always got along. I was a friend of his brother Huey. We always played baseball together.I was devastated when he passed away in 1974. Rose I am sorry for your loss. Every member of the Heath family had a special place in my heart. RIP my friend.
