Steven C. Huff ObituarySteven C. Huff went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 16. Steven was born on November 1, 1950 to Stuart T. Huff and Stella Sumner Huff. He became an active member of Future Farmers of America during his High School Days at North Harford High School until his graduation in 1969.
He joined the U.S. Army in November 1969, feeling the need to fight for his Country. After basic training he was deployed to Vietnam from January 1, 1971 to December 1971, serving in a combat zone. His medals included the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Expert Rifle Medal. He was honorably discharged from Fort Hood Texas in June 1972
.
After his service, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service at the Main Post Office in Baltimore Md as a Mailhandler and served as a Shop Steward for his fellow employees. He retired after 35 years making many lifelong friends. Known for his many jokes and raw sense of humor, he never met a stranger and enjoyed visiting friends during hospital stays and comforting family at funerals.
Steve also enjoyed the Theater, with Jackie Curry, in Poison for Two with The Tidewater Players, and always referred to each other as Lionel and Ethel. He auditioned for small parts and was accepted in Absolute Power and Washington Square in 1997.
Steve was predeceased by two sons Steven C. Huff Jr and Robert Lee Huff, His parents Stuart and Stella, a niece Ashley and his sister Catherine Richards.
He is survived by his daughter Sylvania Huff (Kevin) of Arizona, Jason Huff (Heidi), Justin Huff (Megan), his Sisters Elaine Cook (Tom) and Elizabeth, his brother Billy McCracken of Asheville N.C., and his brother in law Lee Richards. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren : Kate, Fred, Morgan, Matthew & Madison who were the absolute light of his life.
He was known as the fun grandpa and their time together was always cherished and filled with fun and laughter. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins and his companion Anita.
Steve was a dedicated member of the Liberty Christian Center with Pastor Tim Hodge, never missing a service until his illness made it impossible to attend.
Steve was truly one of a kind, a best friend, a good solid voice for advice, and a shoulder when needed, he was always there.
He was a true Patriot and believed in God, Country, & Family and he lived it every day.
A viewing will be held at Harkins Funeral Home600 Main St.,
Delta, PA on Friday, June 20 from 9:30 - 10:25 am
The funeral service will begin at 10:30 am with Pastor Tim Hodge of Liberty Christian Center officiating
Interment with military honors by the U.S. Army Honor Detail will be in Darlington Cemetery in Darlington MD
After his services, the family will meet with friends at the VFW on Conowingo Rd. in Street.
