Steven Wayne Hughes Jr.

Steven W. Hughes, Jr. of Gaston, SC, 46, passed away Wednesday, June 12th. Steve, as he preferred to go by, was born on June 17th, 1977 to Monica Hughes and Steven Hughes, Sr., in Columbia, SC. Steve was a dedicated and hard-working man, who enjoyed his job. He was a loving and dedicated son to his mom, Monica, and treasured his daughter, Stephanie, whom he also loved dearly. For any conversation, Steve always had a repo story on standby, and loved sharing his experiences as a tow truck driver. He also enjoyed running his local Facebook page, and was very involved within his community, and with all the people that came to know him as a friend. Those who were friends with Steve, knew it, and he would reach out to them often. He loved life, and always had a joke, or a kind word to offer. He enjoyed political debate and was heavily involved within local elections around Lexington County. He would be the first one to say: "Let's go Brandon!". Steve was a man that strongly believed in his values. He was light hearted and loving and took pride in his job, his friends, and above all....his family. He was taken from them too soon. His family would like to especially thank Steve's employer, Chris with Carolina Towing out of Lancaster, SC, and the tow truck driving community for their outpouring of love and support.
Steven is preceded in death by his dad, Steven W. Hughes, Sr., his sister, Cindy Eckert-Hughes, and his brother, Billy Eckert.
He is survived by his mother, Monica Hughes, and daughter, Stephanie Hughes. Along with the rest of his family, and many friends, who will continue to cherish his memory and life. Graveside services will be held at Memorial Gardens of Columbia.
