Steven Russell Hunt, affectionately known to all as Russell, was born on September 21st, 1975, and left this world on May 8th, 2025, at the age of 49.
A lifelong resident of Crockett County, Russell was renowned for his exceptional skill as an HVAC technician and low-voltage electrician, with an unmatched dedication to perfection-if a job wasn't flawless, he would redo it until it met his exacting standards. Educated in Crockett County schools, he had a heart of gold, always ready to help anyone with any task, no matter how challenging. Russell enjoyed spending time at his river house, boating on the Tennessee River, and indulging his passion for Ford Mustangs. Above all, he cherished his family, a bond that extended to everyone he worked with, whom he also considered family.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James Russell Hunt and Rosa Nelson Stephenson Hunt; his maternal grandparents, Elmer Russell and Anna Lou Russell; his stepmother, Sherry Holder Hunt; his brother, Jamie Russell Hunt; and his uncles, Earl Byrd, James Peace Jr., Rickey Durrance, and Don Green; and close cousin Kathleen Dudley.
Russell is survived by his father, James Steve Hunt; his mother, Martha Heathcott, and her husband, his stepfather, Phillip Heathcott; his brother, Colton Hunt; his sister, Shanda Hunt; his nephew, Andrew Hunt; his niece, Ariana Steed; his uncles, Gene Miller and Nicky Russell, and his aunt, Annette Miller; and his aunts, Karon Durrance, Betty Green, Sarah Peace, and Lillian Byrd.
Funeral services for Russell Hunt will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 1pm in the chapel of Ronk Funeral Home conducted by Bro. David Peace. Burial will follow in Oakview Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5 until 8 on Wednesday evening, May 14, 2025 at Ronk Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to N.O.A.H of Crockett County or the Crockett County Pound.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
We invite you to share your memories, stories, and photos of Russell on his memorial page, as we remember a life lived with love, kindness, and a remarkable spirit.

We will miss him at Helms Diesel Shop! Such a sweet soul and I always loved talking to him about going to the river and boating! May Jesus comfort his family as only He can and be with them in these difficult days.

Russell will be missed. He is pictured here with my sister Heather. He was truly a kind and gentle soul. Nothing but a gentleman towards me our whole lives. You always take time for granted and think that someone will be there to grow old with you and the truth is we never know when it is our time. Prayers for Russell's family and friends.
