Steven Ray Johnson, 56, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, at Kavanagh Hospice Home surrounded by family and love.

Steven was born on February 21, 1969, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Gerry and Joan (Klaus) Johnson. He grew up in Jesup, Iowa, where he graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1987. He later attended Hawkeye Tech.

On June 29, 1996, Steven was united in marriage to Michelle Bovenkamp. Together they shared nearly three decades of marriage, raising their daughter, Lauren, in Des Moines.

Steven built a career with Stanley Consultants, where he worked for 30 years until his retirement. His colleagues knew him as a dedicated, hardworking, and loyal professional who took pride in his work.

Family was at the heart of Steven's life. He is survived by his wife, Michelle Johnson, his daughter, Lauren Johnson, both of Des Moines, his mother, Joan Johnson, of Jesup; his brother, Michael, of West Des Moines; his sister, Pamela (Jeff) Hart, and his niece, Lindsey Hart, all of Allison, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gerry Johnson.

A celebration of Steven life will be held on Friday, October 10th at 11 am at the Sunset Memorial Chapel, 7601 Fleur Dr in Des Moines. The family will receive friends from 9 until service time.
