Steven Klausing Obituary

Published by aCremation from Jun. 8 to Jun. 9, 2018.
Steve was born on December 6, 1948, in Fullerton, California, to Leona Willers Klausing and Henry William Klausing. He grew up in Anaheim and Corona working in his family's groves producing oranges, avocados, and lemons. After high school, he earned money for college working as a service technician for a mobile home company while attending Chaffee College and Mt. San Antonio College. He then transferred to Utah State University in Logan to pursue a degree in wildlife biology. Steve met Hillary Fallis at Utah State, and the two were married on December 28, 1975, in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1976, Steve began his primary career in Salt Lake at JC Penney as a Logistics Manager in the loss and damage claims department. While living in Salt Lake City, his children, Katie, David, and Michael, were born. In 1989, Steve's job relocated his family to Plano, Texas, where he continued to work for JC Penney as a Distribution Coordinator and later as a Senior Project Manager in Operations Research until his retirement in 2008. Steve loved growing up in California and especially liked spending time in Newport Beach and the mountains of Idyllwild. His experience working in the groves and as a mobile home service technician made him a skilled fix-it man. He was always eager to use his talents to help anyone in need. Steve enjoyed the outdoors and was actively involved with Boy Scouts and Indian Guides. A lifelong Lutheran, Steve was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Anaheim and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Corona. He served as an elder at Grace Lutheran Church in Sandy, Utah, and at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Plano, Texas. He also served on the Administrative Council at Lord of Life and was active with the youth and children's ministries, teaching confirmation classes, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School. Steve was preceded in death by his parents Hank and Leona Klausing, and his brother John Klausing. He is survived by his wife, Hillary; his children, Katharine Howe and her husband Ben, David Klausing, and Michael Klausing and his wife Amy; his grandchildren Lauren Howe, Samantha Howe, Emma Klausing, and Luke Klausing; his sisters Sharon Bishop and Janet Albert and their families. A Memorial Service for Steve will be held on June 9, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 1701 E Park Blvd, Plano, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to the Work Program at Faith Lutheran Church or My Possibilities, 3601 Mapleshade Lane, Plano, TX 75075.

I loved working for and with Steve Klausing at JCPenney. We had dissimilar backgrounds but got along extremely well. If I remember correctly, he said "We would have made good brothers." What a compliment to me! It was a privilege to be his friend.

Sweet Hillary,
I was so sad to hear about your Sweet Steve. It is apparent that you two have shared a full, loving and meaningful life together with your family. How blessed you all are to have had such wonderful times. What a great example Steve has been to his family and to so many others. I know this earthly separation is so hard. I pray that you all find the Peace and Comfort that comes from a caring and loving Heavenly Father. I wish that we, your Kappa Delta Sisters, would have been lucky enough to spend time with you and Steve during these past years since USU days. I know our lives would have been better for it. We are here, Hillary, and we LOVE YOU. God Be With YOU and YOURS Always.

Hillary and family, I am so sorry to hear of Steve's passing. Although it has been many years I remember how much fun the 4 of us had together when you lived in Salt Lake! My thoughts are with you all and I would love to talk to you sometime Hillary. It doesn't matter if death comes suddenly or if you have time to say good bye, this is never an easy time. Just remember all the great times you have had together and that the love of friends and family surrounds you!! Mary Jo

My family moved to California in January of '66 where I completed my junior year at Corona Senior High. I met Steve in one of my classes, and we immediately became friends. He introduced me to his circle of friends, and I felt quite comfortable in my new high school. Steve and I maintained our friendship as we went to different states to attend collage, start a career, and begin our families. We visited many times over the years, and Steve was always a gracious host to my family. He will be missed very much, and always remembered for his kindness and his ability to make you feel very welcome in his home.

How very sad to learn this news today. I am thankful for a short reunion just a year ago, that was filled with smiles and great memories as we all came together in celebration as a church family. That is truly what the Lord bound together in us so many years ago at Lord of Life. As we all traveled into different seasons and directions, one thing remains. We were blessed to be family under the blessings of our Mighty God. Prayers for Hillary and the family as you miss his presence and time with you. Prayers for the promise of Heaven to those of us who embrace our Resurrected Jesus.
