Robert Lee Klausing of Williamston passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Robert was born on February 9, 1943 to Herbert & Anna (Sinkovitz) Klausing of Howell, Michigan. Robert graduated from Fowlerville High School in 1961. He went to work for Austin & Blue as an apprentice sheet metal worker right after high school. In 1964, Robert married his high school sweetheart, Sandee Huck. They had a daughter, Melissa. Soon after his marriage, he became a part of the Lansing Sheet Metal Workers Union. Later, he joined the Detroit Sheet Metal Workers Union where work often took him away from his family. His marriage to Sandee ended after 8 years. The trades allowed Robert to gain knowledge and skills installing and finishing commercial stainless steel kitchen systems around the Midwest. He retired after 33 years of service. In 1996, Robert and Diane Butler were married at St. Agnes Church in Fowlerville. Together they resided in the Fowlerville area. His life became full again as they enjoyed attending mass together, having picnics and watching the sun set. They moved from Fowlerville to Brethren Michigan where they enjoyed 3 years of Northern life before Diane's Multiple Sclerosis caused her to need more care. In 2000, they built a home in Dansville. Robert was a devoted husband and faithful caregiver to Diane until she passed peacefully in 2010 after a long battle with MS. After Diane's passing, Robert moved to Williamston, Michigan. Robert was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamston up until his diagnosis of Lymphoma. Robert was a devout Catholic. He served faithfully as a Eucharistic minister and usher. He also took care of the altar flowers and helped set up for funerals. Robert also enjoyed lunches and activities at the Senior Center. Prior to his cancer diagnosis, Robert would have coffee at the Senior Center, bagged bread donations, and helped with set up and clean up. It was at the Senior Center that he met Mary Rubus in 2023. Robert described Mary as the angel that came into his life when he most needed someone. Mary, along with Carol Regnier (Bruce), Jamie (Darryl) Klausing and family members, lovingly cared for him through his battle with Lymphoma; helping take him to treatments, providing meals and helping with daily activities. Robert will be remembered for his love of family, strong foundation of faith, and his service to others. Robert is survived by his loving friend, Mary Rubus, daughter, Melissa Klausing, grandchildren Ben and Allianna Torres, cousin Carol Regnier (Bruce Copp), and nieces and nephews, Darryl (Jamie Ann) Klausing, Laureen (Chris) Nelson, Jamie E. Klausing, Wayne (Julie) Klausing, Tricia (Don) Headley, Annette (Don) Griswold, and Karen (Louis) DeCaire. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Anna Klausing, his sisters, Mary Ann Klausing, Janice (Klausing) Klanecky, Phyllis (Klausing) Brophy and his brother, Leonard Klausing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church, Williamston Senior Center, or Elara Caring Hospice East Lansing. Visitations will take place at Herrmann Funeral Home in Fowlerville on Monday, September 8 from 5-7 pm and at 10 am on Tuesday, September 9 at St. Agnes Catholic Church Higgins Hall. The funeral will take place at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Fowlerville, Michigan on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 11 am with internment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery following the mass. A luncheon will follow at St. Agnes Catholic Church LPC.
