Steven Todd “Pepper” Martin passed away on July 18, 2025, at T. Boone Pickens Cancer Center in Dallas, at age 54.
A gathering will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, starting at 6:30 p.m., at Springfield Hall (199 Park Road #35 – off Hwy. 14 N, Groesbeck). All individuals who knew Todd are welcome to attend and commemorate his life.
Todd grew up in Groesbeck, born on December 3, 1970, to Steve and Pat Martin, with a younger sister, Shelli. He played football for 6 years with the Groesbeck Goats in junior high and high school, and enjoyed good friends, Todd Telford, Jon Telford, Randy Grimes, and Billy Clary, and plentiful more. Todd graduated with the Class of 1989. Todd could always light up the room with his smile and jokes.
Todd enjoyed riding bulls and rodeoing with Randy Grimes; his other hobbies were roping, golfing, fishing, being outdoors and spending time with friends.
Todd became a licensed electrician. He lived in the Dallas area for the past twenty years and worked for a company that constructed stores all over the country. He was a construction superintendent, working on job sites out of state, from California to North Carolina, for lengthy periods of time, but enjoyed coming home to the Terrell and Wills Point area. Todd also owned Pepper Martin Construction Co., which provided finish work on the construction projects.
After Todd was diagnosed with cancer, he continued working for several years during treatment, only stepping back in his last year as his health worsened. He enjoyed riding around in the evenings listening to music and grabbing “nanner pudding” late nights at Buc-ee’s. Todd had an infectious smile and a heart of gold. His soul-mate, Tara Telford White was his constant companion, devoted “rock of support,” and prayer-partner, with both of them thankful for the time God allowed them to have together.
Todd was predeceased by his parents, Steve and Pat Martin; grandparents, Johnnie and Alta Wilson Martin; aunts and uncle, Donna Robinett, Jay Lou and Frankie Beck; and his sister, Shelli Price (2024).
Todd is survived by his partner, Tara Telford White, who provided care and support throughout his illness. Also surviving are Tara’s son, Dustin White, brothers, Todd and Jon Telford, along with their families, close friends Randy Grimes, Billy and Robin Clary. Among those who mourn Todd’s passing is his brother-in-law, Eric Price. Todd also leaves behind several nieces and their families, who will remember him with love and fondness. His extended family includes his uncle and aunt, Johnny and Judy Walton and uncle, Jesse Robinett, and numerous cousins and other relatives.
