On January 6, 2022 at the age of 56, Steven Carl McBride met his maker with a handshake and a take down. He continued to fight for his life until the clock won. He was surrounded by friends and family holding his hands and letting him know how much he was loved. It was time for this one last match to end.
Steve was born July 11, 1965 in Ponca City, OK to Judith Karen McBride & Carl Henry McBride who survive. Those who had the opportunity to know Steve, know this wasn't an easy task as he liked to scrap. But he was also a gentle soul. His sibling Tim (wife Haley, daughter Malorie) will always be known as 'the runner' from Steve' as he waited patiently on the porch for Tim to come home so they could wrestle one more time. Wendy (Brent Whiteside) was always the ultimate referee, her favorite match of theirs was when she visited Ferris State while they lived together. Tim, being an RA of the floor they lived on, wouldn't let her in the dorm because it was past visiting hours and Tim was a wonderful rule follower. So through the door she watched her brothers wrestle on the dorm floor. Mark (Viktorija, daughter Zoey), Steve's youngest brother was always the light-weight hanging onto him while Steve, the heavyweight wrestler, flipped him around like a little dog and Mark would re-climb him every time he was thrown off.
He had amazing super strength. Many times it has been said "how in the hell did he just lift that by himself!" His physical strength was matched by his quick wit. His sense of humor was endless and he was one of the best stand up comics that never did stand up. I so wish I had written his jokes all down! He brought into his life-match a beautiful daughter Hanna (mother Alejandrina McBride), who shares in many of her father's great qualities. His loving mom and dad, one always in the corner of the mat, the other in the stands guiding and cheering him on for all of them, this match was the hardest to decide and ultimately his maker won with a tap on the mat and a hand raised.
A celebration of Steve's life is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
