Steven McCombs, age 64 of Marshalltown and formerly of Springfield, Ohio, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.
Steven Edward McCombs was born on July 11, 1961, in Springfield, Ohio, the second eldest of six children born to Floyd Edward and Nancy Louise (Fisher) McCombs.
On May 13, 1989, Steve was united in marriage with Theresa “Tracy” Ball. From this union was one daughter, Kyleigh. Steve and his family moved to Marshalltown, Iowa for his job at Lennox Industries in 1994. Steve later worked at Superior Cleaning for several years until his retirement.
In his young adult life, Steve loved to have fun whether he was driving fast cars and scooping the loop or attending many concerts of some of his favorite bands including his all-time favorite, the Rolling Stones. Steve enjoyed playing basketball at Ross’s and baseball with his brothers, family gatherings, and spending time with his grandson, especially fishing. He loved visiting friends and family back home in Ohio and always cheered on his home state football teams – Ohio State and the Cleveland Browns. Steve enjoyed reading, turner classic movies, and playing yatzee, bachaemon, and euchre.
Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harvey McCombs, Alice Flora, and Helen and Jim Fisher; his dad, Floyd “Eddie” McCombs; his mother-in-law, Lana S. Wirth; aunt, Cathleen; and his cousins, Andy, Lisa, and Karen. He is survived by his mom, Nancy McCombs; wife, Tracy McCombs; daughter, Kyleigh McCombs; grandson, Brady McCombs Tietje; siblings, Cindy McCombs, Jim (Christine) McCombs, Kristy (Gregg) Lambert, Randy (Holly) McCombs, Chad (Monica) McCombs; sister-in-law, Tammy Wirth; and brother-in-law, Cedric Brown. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Patrick, Brenna, Jessica, Landon, Duke, Ella, Irie and Ryan; 2 great-nephews; his aunt and uncle, Sondra Frank and John Fisher; along with many cousins.
