Steven Thomas McDill

Steven T McDill went home to be with the Lord on September 25, 2025, at the age of 68. He passed away unexpectedly in St. Paul Minnesota. He was born on March 2, 1957 in Chicago Illinois to Thomas A and Ruth C McDill, and lived in Valparaiso IN until the age of ten. Then the family moved to Crystal MN, where he graduated from Cooper high school in 1975. He attended North Hennepin Community College. Later, obtained a series 7 license and other insurance certificates. He worked for a number of insurance compaines throughout his life. He was married for 32 years to his wife Susan, with whom he had his two children, Sean McDill and Chloe Quinn. He was married to his wife Joi for 7 years with whom he shared many happy years living in Tennessee and adventurous years living in Mexico.
Steve was an adventurous person and enjoyed playing tennis, snow and water skiing, traveling and spending time with family and friends. While living in Tennessee, he spent time volunteering at the Journey Home, a Christian homeless shelter. When Steve and Joi moved to Mexico in 2022 they opened their hearts and donated much of their time to serving underprivileged children in the Ajijic area. He volunteered at La Ola Girl's Home and spent Saturday mornings teaching the local children in his village to play sports. He spent his last summer in Hastings MN to be near his children, grandchildren and friends. Steve enjoyed one last cross country road trip to NYC with his daughter Chloe and grandchildren Penny and Max, riding motorcycles and going to concerts with his son Sean and playing tennis with friends.
He is survived by his son Sean McDill, daughter Chloe Quinn, grandchildren Penelope and Maximus Irwin, sisters Karen Carner Lee (Mark), Jane Schultz (Bruce), nephews Brent and Alec Schultz (Cayla).
Preceding Steve in death include his wife Joi Sherrill, his parents Thomas and Ruth McDill, his step mother Doris McDill Memorial Service Friday October 24th 2025 at New Hope Church, 4225 Gettysburg Ave N, New Hope MN.
