Steven Ray McKenzie, 60, passed away on November 7, 2025, in Florence Colorado, after a hard battle with Melanoma cancer.

He was born on August 27, 1965, in Denver Colorado and was the 5th of seven children born to Richard and Velma McKenzie. His favorite pastimes were terrorizing his older sisters, which was usually met with much retaliation, "fixing" things whether or not they were broken, and re-purposing one thing into another. After high school, he served in the Army as a chef and would often bless his family and friends with the cooking skills he had learned. Although his life had many ups and downs, he never lost his amazing sense of humor, and he will truly be missed.

"Uncle Steve" as he was known, passed away following a day of visits with family. He was his usual playful, ornery self and was surrounded by his mother, sisters, daughters, grandchildren, niece Tonya Marques and her husband Sonny and of course his sweet, protective dog Junior. He was in the care and immediate comfort of Tonya the evening he went home to be with the Lord.

Steven is survived by his loving mother Velma McKenzie, his siblings Vicki Embry, Heidi Downs and Shelly Asjes, his beloved daughters Stephanie McKenzie (Herrera), Sarah McKenzie, and Amy Geller, his son-in -law Jason Geller, his grandchildren Manuel and Kimberly, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Steven was preceded in death by his father Richard McKenzie, his younger brother Scott McKenzie his two sisters Sheryl Wernick and Kimberly Poulson, and his nephew Erik Embry.

His battle with cancer was one filled with hope which glorified God when he was ultimately healed and set free.

Services for Steven are being provided by Harwood Funeral Service and will be held on Friday, November 21st, 2025, at the Steeple Event Center at 701 Macon Ave in Canon City, Colorado at 11:00 am, followed by a graveside service to be held at Lakeside Cemetery.
