Steven Douglas Miller, the son of Brice Jay and Dora Belle (Carpenter) Miller, was born June 16, 1962, in Denver Colorado. Steve graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the class of 1980. He went on to receive a degree in Business Management and Retail Marketing from D.M.A.C.C. and an auctioneering diploma from Missouri Auction School.

Steve worked many years at Sears Home Central in Des Moines. He also worked as an independent contractor in construction, remodeling and auction work. He owned and operated Miller Brothers Auction Service from 1982-2006. Steve enjoyed researching genealogy, photography, hunting, fishing, being outdoors, his cats and cooking holiday dinners for family.

Steve died on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at his home in Newton. He was 63 years old. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and several uncles and aunts.

Those left to honor Steve's memory include his brother, Kenneth R. (Karen) Miller; his sister, Nancy E. Miller; a special friend, Linda D. Brown; and multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews by marriage.

Memorial services will be held, at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the Pence Reese Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday. Memorials may be designated in Steve's name and left at the funeral home. Please make check payable to Nancy Miller.
