In honor of Steve, please wear Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs apparel, or anything camo. Thornburg - Grau Funeral Home in Lansing is assisting with the arrangements. Steven L. Morarend was born in Guttenburg, IA, on July 21,1951, the son of Earl and Phyllis (Noack) Morarend. He graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1969, and served in the US Navy from 1969 - 1973. On August 9, 1975, he married Mary Schluetter at her parents' home. Steve worked for Warners in Beloit, WI, as a machine operator, retiring in 2010. He loved spending time in outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also loved watching the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Iowa Hawkeyes. You could even occasionally find Steve drinking an ice-cold Busch Light. He was a very active member of the Lansing VFW.
He will be forever loved by his wife Mary Morarend; his son Shane Morarend; his daughter Melissa (Brett) Ishman; his granddaughter Emerson Ishman; his sister Karen Smith; his brother Caryles (Bonnie) Morarend; sister-in-law Laura Morarend, brother-in-law Rick Young; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers in infancy; two sisters: Leanna Morarend and JoAnn Young; a brother Kevin Morarend; daughter in-law Carol Spatafora; and brother-in-law Steve Smith.
The family would like to extend a great thank you to the Madison Wisconsin VA Hospital and the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Hospital in La Crosse.
