Arthur Schobert

Arthur J. Schobert, 72, of Lansing, IA, passed away at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI, on Friday, September 11, 2025, after suffering complications due to diabetes. A celebration of life for Art will be held on Saturday, September 27th from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Driftless Visitors Center in Lansing. All are welcome to come and share their stories of Art. Thornburg - Grau Funeral Home in Lansing is handling the arrangements.

Arthur John Schobert was born on May 8, 1953, to Otto and Verna (Cole) Schobert, Art was one of five children. On August 24, 1974, he married Dawn Richards and together they had two children, Trever and Lynn. Spending most of his life in Lansing, the river was home to Art. His calendar revolved around where the fish were biting and what hunting season was open. Besides his love of fishing and hunting, Art was a very skilled cook. Known for his signature fish chowder or his sour cream raisin pies, he was more than willing to share with those around him.

Never without a story, Art could talk to anyone. While his love for the outdoors had always been the most important thing to him, Art learned a bigger and deeper love than he had ever known when he became a grandpa. His grandkids quickly became the center of his life. While the hunting and fishing stories continued, his conversations with others were now sprinkled with the accomplishments of his grandchildren. Teaching them how to fish, encouraging them to hunt or simply going for a drive to look for wildlife, it is now his grandchildren who will share those stories of times spent with Grandpa.

Art is survived by his wife, Dawn Schobert of Lansing; a son and daughter-in-law, Trever & Sharlene Schobert of New Albin; a daughter, Lynn Severson of Lansing; He will be missed dearly by his seven grandchildren: Sierra & Brock Colsch of New Albin, Kinley Schobert of Neillsville, WI, Owen Schobert of Holstein, IA, Eli Schobert of New Albin, Phoenix Crass of Winona, MN, Brynlee and Lucie Severson of Lansing. He also leaves behind two great-grandsons, Beau (18 months) and Emmett Colsch, who he met just days before he left us. Art also is survived by one sister, Jeananne Schobert of Lansing; and one brother, Francis Schobert of Barnaveld, WI: several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Verna Schobert; two sisters: Donna Troendle and Hazel Flynn; and two brothers-in-law: Tom Troendle and Jim Flynn.
