Steven Wayne Morgan, 54, was born on July 23, 1970, to proud parents, Otis Wayne and Bettie Lou (Ridge) Morgan in Corsicana, Texas and passed away at his residence in Madisonville, Texas on February 27, 2025.

Steven will be fondly remembered by many as a man with a strong work ethic, something that developed at the young age of thirteen, who had what it took to get things done. He was the proud owner of Doug’s Wrecker Service in Madisonville and served the community with great effort and integrity. Steven loved his “big trucks” and considered himself blessed beyond measure as he used them to help people time and again.

Steven looked forward to a good Clint Eastwood movie and the next cruise he had planned. He also found immense joy in mowing the grass and taking care of his parents’ place. If Steven had any spare time, it was often spent welding something. He was very talented and received much fulfillment working with his hands constructing something for others to enjoy whether it was a smoker or a larger building project.

Steven was definitely a people person. He saw the value in others and cherished every moment with his friends and family. A good time for Steven was hanging out with his friends! He had many talents but at the top of the list was talking. Steven was a great storyteller who captured the attention of those within hearing distance. He possessed a fantastic sense of humor matched perfectly with a unique and fun-loving adventurous disposition. It is certainly safe to say that Steven never met a stranger.

His greatest adoration was for the Lord and his family came close behind. He loved his wife Rena with whom he loved to cruise and travel to new places, and prioritized conversations with his mother every day. He loved his family and embraced every opportunity to spend time with them. Steven will be dearly missed by all those who were blessed to know him.

Steven was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Otis O. and Wynelle Ann Morgan, maternal grandfather, Edward E. Ridge and his uncle, Robert Morgan.

Left to cherish Steven’s memory are his parents, Otis Wayne and Bettie Lou Morgan; wife, Janice Rena Morgan; maternal grandmother, Rosia Lee Ridge; stepson, Brandon Ray Glenn; stepdaughter, Bryanna Rena Washington; brother, Jeffery Scott Morgan; sister-in-law, Diana Morgan and a special nephew, Justin Scott Morgan. Steven will also be remembered by nephew, Tanner Cross Morgan; niece, Baylei Jane Quinlan (Spencer); great-nephews, Jaxtyn Scott and Kyler Cross Morgan; and numerous other extended family and loving friends.

A funeral service, officiated by brother and pastor Jeff Morgan, honoring Steven’s life will be held at 2 P.M. in the chapel at the Madisonville Funeral Home on Sunday, March 9, 2025. Visitation is scheduled for the evening before on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Burial will take place in the Greenbriar Cemetery in Madisonville immediately following the service.
