Steven Ray Olson, age 58, of Atwater, died Sunday morning, June 13, following an extended illness at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Watertown, South Dakota, 3 PM Saturday, June 19. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Thursday, June 17 at the Atwater Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Steven was born on October 11, 1951, in Volga, South Dakota, the son of William Sr. and Patricia (Cameron) Olson. He graduated from high school in Kindred, North Dakota and served in the U.S. Air National Guard in Fargo, North Dakota. In 1976, he became the manager of the grain elevator in Wallace, South Dakota. In 1981, Steven purchased the grain elevator in Grove City and also owns and operates the grain elevators in Kandiyohi and Spicer. On March 23, 1998, Steven was united in marriage to Sharon Lee Moes and they made their home in Atwater. He is a member of the Willmar American Legion Post. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling with his wife and time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and friends. He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Atwater; two sons, Craig Olson of Kindred, ND., and Brian Olson of Fargo, ND.; one daughter, Krista Olson of Fargo, ND.; step son, Shawn (and Shelli) Moes of Litchfield; three grandchildren, Isaac Olson and Zachary and Izabella Moes. Also surviving is his father, William Sr. Olson of Sinai, SD., and six siblings, William Olson Jr. of Grove City, Richard (and Diana) Olson of Miltona, Kathleen (and Merle) Hedland of Naperville, IL., Cheryl (and Anton) Kalvoda of Mandan, ND., Kimberly (and Todd) Haarsager of Minot, ND., and Patricia (and Lance) Larson of Casselton, ND., besides other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia and his grandparents, William and Eleanor Olson and William and Minnie Cameron.
