Steven J. Orlowski, 64
1959 - 2024
Peabody - Steven Joseph Orlowski, a beloved member of the Peabody, Massachusetts community, passed away at the age of 64. Born and raised in Saugus, Massachusetts, Steven's life was defined by his dedication to hard work, his love for his family, and his passion for the great outdoors.
Steven was a man of many roles and talents. As the owner of Big O's Landscaping, he poured his heart and soul into his work, creating beautiful natural spaces for countless clients. Additionally, he lent his expertise as a Jet Engine Mechanic at General Electric, where his skill and dedication were widely recognized and respected.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Steven cherished his time in nature. Whether he was hunting, fishing, or cruising on his motorcycle, he found comfort in the beauty of the world around him. These pursuits allowed him to connect with his surroundings and provided countless cherished memories.
He was known for his big hearty laugh, a testament to his love for a good time and his vibrant personality. He was a wealth of knowledge, always ready to offer advice to anyone, especially family and close friends, whether they asked for it or not. If there was something that needed fixing, he'd have a tool for it, or at the very least, would tell you what you had to do to fix it. "Big O," as he proudly went by, even well beyond his landscaping years, made a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Steven was also Italian, and quite proud of it, too. If his perfectly sun-tanned skin didn't give him away, his booming voice as he commanded a room, or his neck adorned with gold chains would. Much like the eagle necklace he often sported, Steven very much embodied the spirit of an eagle. As writer Sidney Sheldon once said, "The foolish think the Eagle weak, and easy to bring to heel. The Eagle's wings are silken, but its claws are made of steel." Steven's duality of silk and steel is what he will be remembered for most. He fiercely loved his family, and albeit often hard headed at best, there's absolutely no denying his love for them. With his former wife, Marilyn Giangregorio Orlowski, the two of them brought into this world his biggest pride of all, his children, Rachel and Jarrett. No gold could come close to the treasures he found in experiencing life with them. His eyes sparkled and his smile became bigger with the addition of these two into his life. Perhaps too prideful to admit his faults, at the end of the day, his children had no faults in his eyes. They were and will always be his golden years of laughter and love, and through them his legacy lives on.
Steven will be missed by all of those who knew him. His legacy lives on through his daughter, Rachel Orlowski, and her wife, Cheryl Faso, his granddaughter, Addie, and his son, Jarrett Orlowski. He leaves behind brothers William and Paul Orlowski, and his mother, Marie Orlowski, as well as a host of other family members. His love and presence touched the lives of many, and his memory will be treasured forever.
