Steven Edward Pieczykolan

Steven E. Pieczykolan, age 64, of Saint Paul passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones January 18.

Steve, often referred to as "Peach" was a man with a heart of gold. He was well known for his great sense of humor (sometimes, with no filter) and willingness to help others whenever needed. He was that person people would always gravitate towards and when you would talk to him, it's like you have known him for years. He was also compared to John Candy in the movie Uncle Buck. The cool uncle who would always keep people on their toes when it came to his shenanigans.

Steve grew up and lived a majority of his life in the Twin Cities. He is one of five brothers. He met his former wife, Diane, at one of the infamous parties she would host. They got married in September 1989 and had their only daughter, Brittany, in March 1991.

Steve went off to earn his Associates Degree in Law Enforcement. Unfortunately, he was not able to pursue his dream of becoming a police officer due to experiencing a knee injury. Years later, he became a Fire Inspector for the City of St. Paul. He took a lot of pride in his work and loved helping others. He felt great being part of a supportive team.

Some of his favorite hobbies and interests throughout his life included motorcycles, spending time with friends and family, swimming in the backyard pool, road trips, and cars (he always had to have 2 "just in case"). He also liked cop TV shows like Blue Bloods and romantic comedies like Love Actually.

Steve battled a genetic liver disease for years. He was so resilient and did whatever he could to help slow the progression of it. He never gave up fighting. One of the reasons why he wanted to keep on living was for his grandchildren.

Preceded in death by former wife, Diane Johnson; brother, Edward Pieczykolan; mother, Beverly Freberg; father, Charles Freberg.

Survived by his loving daughter, Brittany (Jeremy) Millington; granddaughter, Amelia Millington; unborn granddaughter; brothers, Brian (Cheryl) Freberg, Stanley Pieczykolan, Tony Pieczykolan; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 7 at 12 PM at Oakwood Funeral Home, 2585 Stillwater Rd. E., Maplewood, MN 55119, with a visitation from 10:00 – 12:00 PM.

His family expresses their gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to the Pillars Hospice in Oakdale during Steve's final days. He received exceptional care and his family felt supported.
