Steven Blake Redd, age 61, of
Slinger, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, surrounded by family, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on June 13, 1964, in El Paso, Texas, the son of John Michael Redd and Barbara Jeanne Overton.
Steve graduated from John Jay High School in San Antonio, Texas, in 1982 and served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hong Kong from 1984 to 1986. On August 16, 1988, he married Lauri Norman Redd in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they built a home centered on love, faith, and laughter.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in International Relations from Brigham Young University in 1990 and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Texas A&M University in 2000. Steve was awarded a fellowship from Southern Methodist University and devoted his professional life to teaching and research. At the time of his passing, he was a Full Professor at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, where he was respected for his knowledge, mentorship, and love of learning.
Steve had a passion for travel, gardening, sports, and, most of all, spending time with his family. He served faithfully in many callings within his church, including Stake High Council, Bishop, and many callings within the Elders Quorum and Young Men's Organizations. Above all, Steve was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. His strong testimony and love for Jesus Christ were evident in the way he lived and served.
He is survived by his wife, Lauri Redd; his children, Jaci Redd, Brenna (Drew) Whiffen, Gabrielle Redd, Jackson Redd, Kasen Redd, and Ember Redd; his grandchildren, Ember, Deckim, and Penelope; his mother, Barbara Lusk; his brother, Dean (Pam) Redd; his half siblings, Megan (Ben) Hill, Christopher Redd, and Jennifer (Brian) Boyle; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John Michael Redd.
Steve's life was one of service, kindness, and faith, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral service is Saturday January 3, 2026, at Noon, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 120 W. Paradise Dr. West Bend, WI. Visitation will be from 10am until time of service. Interment Pony Express Memorial Cemetery, Eagle Mountain, Utah.
