Steven Carl Reimann was born on May 25th, 1950, in Owatonna, Minnesota to Carl and Viola Reimann. He was the youngest of 3 with 2 older sisters. They spent the first six years of his life on a small farm in Southeastern Minnesota where Steve first gained a passion for all things mechanical. Steve's family would often find him in the garage or basement with an engine of some sort torn apart. The Reimann's settled in Rochester, Minnesota when he was 8 where Steve graduated from John Marshall High School in 1968. Having lost his Mom early in his life, he was lovingly raised by his Dad and sisters.
After graduating from high school, Steve tried logging in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and then traveled to California to work as a brakeman on the railroad before finally finding his groove with various stereo stores settling at Sun Stereo and helping to produce many concerts during the 70's. In the late 70's, he traveled to Kodiak, Alaska and built and ran Midnight Sun Tans and Tubs, where he met his future wife, Mary, after she started working for him in the early 80's. In 1986, he sold the hot tub business and he and Mary moved to a small town near Anchorage where he eventually found work at Shimeks Audio. In 1988, they were married in Hawaii. In 1992, when his daughter was only 6 months old, he went out on his own and began AVID --doing custom home theater, whole house audio, and communications wiring for the next 25 years. Mary again worked with him to establish his business and had daughter, Amanda and son, Carl.
Steve also enjoyed riding motorcycles, and snow machines and drag racing and was thrilled to be able to do those things with his children where many weekends were spent enjoying themselves at Alaska Raceway Park. He retired from his business in September of 2017 and Mary quit working to stay home with him in September of 2019 to spend as much time with him as possible as his dementia took over his life.
He passed peacefully at home surrounded in love by his children and their partners and his wife and love of his life. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Mary, his daughter, Amanda and fiancé Dan, and son, Carl and fiancée Hayley. He is also survived by his sister, Kay with husband Don, sister Cheri and partner John, and Nieces Kim and husband Paul and their 3 children, Jill and husband Andy and their 3 children and many extended family in Minnesota. He was a kind, patient, honest and loving father, husband and friend and is deeply missed by all of the many lives he touched.
