Steven Michael Roberts

Steven Michael Roberts age 60, of Caldwell, OH, formerly of Boone County, WV, passed away Friday, February 27, 2026 at Select Specialty Hospital - Southeast Ohio in Newark, OH. He was born May 17, 1965 in Boone County, WV, a son of Karen Miller Roberts and the late Drexel Roberts.

“Stevie,” as he was known to family and friends, enjoyed playing guitar and banjo and singing with his brothers. He enjoyed working on vehicles, especially his 1985 Jeep Renegade. Stevie worked in and around the coal mines for years and was known to his coworkers as “Cheeseburger.” His sense of humor will be greatly missed.

In addition to his father, Drexel, he is preceded in death by a sister, Kara Jo Horton and a brother, Rodney Roberts.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Leisha Smith Roberts; mother Karen of Boone County; daughter Kayla Roberts of Boone County; grandsons Carter, Brody and Keegan all of Boone County; step-daughter Erica Smith of Cookeville, TN; step-grandchildren Cheyenne Smith and Tucker Norman of Cookeville; two brothers John Jay (Margaret) Roberts of Burgaw, NC, and Paul (Christi) Roberts of Kernersville, NC; nephews Braylen and John Roberts of Burgaw, and Auston (Meghan) Wheeler of Minnesota.

The family would like to thank the nurses at Select Specialty Hospital in Newark for the great care and compassion they provided for Steven and Leisha.

Cremation will be observed with a graveside service to be held at a later date at the Roberts Family Cemetery in Boone County. Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service 609 West Street Caldwell, OH 43724 has been entrusted to care for the family.
