Steve A. Rodgers, age 55, of Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away on March 9, 2025. He is deeply loved by his family, who will forever cherish the time they had with him and the profound impact he made on their lives. His kindness, strength, and unwavering support will be missed beyond measure.
He was born on September 29, 1969, at Altus AFB, Oklahoma and grew up in Kansas City, Missouri attending Raytown High School. Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Lara Rodgers of Irving, Texas; his parents, Ron and Georgia Rodgers of Lee's Summit, Missouri; his sister Kelly Suchman and husband Dave, and their son Jacob of Lee's Summit, Missouri; his son Tyler Young and wife Sarah, and their children Benjamin and Keira of Liberty, Missouri; his children Spencer, Blake, and Aubree Rodgers of Overland Park, Kansas; stepson Justin Bullock and wife Bethanie Bullock of Sallisaw, OK; and a wide circle of extended family and friends.
Steve was a distinguished C-Level IT Executive with over 25 years of experience, known for his expertise in digital transformation, cloud automation, DevSecOps, security compliance, and agile development. His leadership was instrumental in guiding organizations towards efficient and secure cloud environments, leaving a lasting impact on the field.
His career highlights include serving as Chief of IT Operations at the State of Missouri's Office of Administration ITSD, where he led critical IT functions and digital transformation initiatives. Previously, at Ericsson Inc., he excelled as a Solution Architect and Security Consulting Practice leader, enhancing cloud security and managing vulnerabilities in complex networks.
Beyond his professional achievements, Steve was passionate about coaching and empowering adults over 50 through his company, Freedom Strength, dedicated to barbell strength training. He cherished the outdoors, from flying and martial arts to boating, scuba diving, camping, and adventurous vacations. His enthusiasm and intensity for life-whether in music as a #1 RUSH fan, movies, food, comedy, or a thousand other things-were infectious, and a gift to all who knew him.
A Dale Carnegie Course Graduate, Steve held a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Missouri State University. His dedication to his work, family, and community leaves behind a legacy of innovation, mentorship, strength, and love.
His endearing hug, and "I love you" will always be remembered.
