Steven Rubino

Steven F. Rubino, 68, of Carteret passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 1, 2025, in the comfort of his home.

Born in Neptune, NJ, Steven was raised and resided in Monmouth County for many years, graduating from Red Bank Catholic High School and moving on to achieve his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature degree at St. Francis University in Loretto, PA. He has resided in Carteret for the last 20 years and was a devoted communicant of St. Joseph R.C. Church. Steven had a passion for music and was a drummer in the bands; Southern Steel, Exit 12 and Party of 5 and was an avid sports fan following the Los Angeles Dodgers, Las Vegas Raiders and Notre Dame Fighting Irish football. His kind and caring soul is what made him beloved by so many people around him. Steven was known for his jokes at awkward moments but also giving back to his community, helping others and devoting time to his loving family.

Steven was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Bernadette Rubino along with his uncle, Dominic "Juni" Rubino. Surviving are his wife of 17 years, Henrietta Kassis Rubino; children, Janel Easterling with her husband David, Jennifer Lopez, John McNelis with his wife Tara and Joe McNelis with his wife Kaitlyn; grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, Vanessa, Jacob, Lucy, Nora, JJ and Luke along with his mother-in-law, Victoria Kassis and many loving cousins.

Funeral services will begin at 8:45am on Friday, November 7, 2025 from CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 625 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Carteret. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery Mausoleum in Oceanport.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 4pm to 8pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Steven may be made to John Theurer Cancer Center, a Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation.
