Steven Mark Short, 65, of Milan, Michigan, passed away on September 2, 2022 at Trinity-St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor Hospital after a long battle with lung cancer.
Steve was born in Ypsilanti to William Short and Pauline Kramer on May 8, 1957. He married Jill Stante on July 11, 2015 in Fayette, Michigan. Steve was an extremely hard worker, and he spent his career working with many of his brothers at the family-owned Huron Sign Company in Ypsilanti. Steve was a family man who loved spending time with those closest to him, and he was an avid University of Michigan and Detroit Lions football fan. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, and he will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Steve is preceded in death by his father, William Short; his mother, Pauline Kramer; and his brother, Ronnald Short.
Steve is survived by his wife, Jill; his son, Logan; his daughter, Macey; his stepchildren, Kate, Marlena, Olivia, and John, their significant others; and his grandchildren, Jacob, Noah, and Elliana. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters including, William Short II, Suzanne ZumFelde, Gregory Short, Gary Short, Douglas Short, Thomas Short, Pamela Tinsley, and Kevin Short and families.
Gathering will take place on Monday, September 5, 2022 from 4-8pm at Nie Family Funeral Home, 2400 Carpenter Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48108. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 411 Florence Street, Ypsilanti, MI 48197 on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 11am, with burial to follow at Marble Park Cemetery in Milan, MI. Father Harvey is to celebrate.
