Ms. Noter Lee Anna (Devane) Short, 83, formerly of White Oak, NC went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 23, 2026 at Hope Hospice surrounded by her family.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Love Grove Baptist Church in Tarheel, officiating will be Dr. Mack Roberts. Burial will follow at Davis-Melvin Cemetery in White Oak.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 2:50 PM Wednesday at the church prior to the service.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Junie & Duel DeVane; brothers, Judie Odis DeVane, William Kenneth DeVane, Jesse B. DeVane, Cecil Wayne DeVane, and Ernest Hugh Devane.
She cherished every moment spent with her family and her beloved fur babies. Whether she was tending to her garden, bowling with friends, or finding peace in the quiet care of her home, her bright spirit shone through. A woman of deep faith, she saw God’s beauty in all things. Especially when she was dancing along to Elvis. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
She Leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Jerry Short & wife, Diane of Danville, ILL; daughter, Zenda Penner & husband, Rick of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Christopher & Alicia Short (Ava & Emma) of Saint Joseph, ILL, Cameron & Candice Short of Danville, ILL, Chanel Short (Hyde) of Danville, ILL; Courtney & David Goff (Isabella & Noah) of Cape Coral, FL, Jesse Penner of Norfolk, VA, Jared & Kassandra Penner (Joseph & Jiliana) of Cape Coral, FL, , and Jeff & Tiffany Penner (Jonas & Jada) of Cottonwood, MN; siblings, J.F. DeVane & wife, Edith of Fayetteville, Dorothy Tatum of Cedar Creek, NC, Danny DeVane & wife, Alice of Garner, NC, Vernon DeVane & wife, Linda of White Oak, NC, and Faye McMormick of St. Pauls, NC; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her special friend, Fritz.
