We (I) have been blessed to be entangled with Steve (Kristin and the kids) for many years since moving to Greenhaven, where we were neighbors, family friends, and our children are authentically close. Steve had superpowers you'd have to discover by escaping with him back to any party or event - which I almost always immediately did with him when Kristin threw one of her annual theme parties. We'd hide out and talk sports and the friendship with our children, who are of similar age. (Steve was truly funny and fun to be with at the periphery of anything...). His baritone, dry, and often hilariously acerbic phrasings brought the pains of renovations and wild local school politics to life. I will deeply miss the nature of our shadowy wingman relationship in avoiding the center of any event together. Given more time, on a quieter night, you'd immediately discover his depth, kindness, self-effacing demeanor, listening superpowers, love, care, and consideration for Kristin, Natalie, and Sam, and the many, many ways in which is served the Rye Neck community, and his larger family and friends (whom I did not know... but we can see in their testaments to him..)). The simple measure of Steve will be his love and impact on all of us. The weight of which can be weighed in what he did, not what was said. He showed up. He served. He impacted. He loved. Steve, and his character, will be deeply missed.
