Steven Lewis Slauson
Steve, age 70, passed away quietly with family on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. He was born on August 14, 1951, in Des Moines, IA.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lewis Slauson, mother Sadie Slauson (Emmons); brother-in-law Jack Coburn; nephew John Coburn, niece Christie Coburn; niece Stacey Slauson, and nephew Brandon Calder.
In 1971, Steve enlisted in the Army for 7 years and enlisted in the Air National Guard for another 15 years. While in the military, he worked several jobs as a truck driver and retired from Orr Trucking in 2013. Steve loved spending time with his family, going to different car shows and gun shows, and the Iowa State Fair. His dream was to own a motor home and travel the country.
Steve is survived by his wife Mary Slauson; children Trisha Slauson (Michael Forret); Chad Slauson (Jena Slauson); sisters Sharon (Alex) Calder and Sheila Coburn; grandchildren Clark, Cora, Isabella, Jadyn, Elliott, and Dane, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held at Iles Funeral Homes Brandt in Dallas Center, IA; Tuesday, April 19th from 5 pm to 7 pm. The Funeral will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Grimes on Wednesday, April 20th at 10 am, with a burial to follow. There will be a luncheon back at the church with food and refreshments. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
