Steven M. Smart

Steven M. Smart passed on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Our Lady of the Lake, Baton Rouge, LA. He was 62 years old and a resident and native of Walker, LA. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and watching LSU football. He was employed with Performance Contractors for 29 years. Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, on Tuesday, July 25, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will resume at First United Pentecostal Church, Denham Springs, on Wednesday, July 26, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., officiated by Rev. Ray Johnson, Rev. Colin McClendon, and Rev. Mark Martin. Burial will follow at Palmetto Cemetery, Walker, LA. He is survived by his wife, of 41 years, Carolyn Smart; three daughters, Stefanie Smart, Amy Smart, and Samantha Smart Cupit and husband, Roger; his beloved grandchildren, Jason Avrel, Jr., Blaysen McDonald, Stevi Smart, and Gauge Cupit; brother, Randy Smart and wife, Donna; sister, Karen Alwood and husband, Terry; several nieces; and mother-in-law, Audrey Cassels Chavers. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Ivy Smart and Marjorie Schoonmaker Smart; and father-in-law, Joseph B. Chavers, Jr.
